National Assessment of Educational Progress – The Nation’s Report Card 2015

October 28, 2015

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) released the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Nation’s Report Card 2015.  The NAEP test is largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what our nation’s students know and can do in subjects such as mathematics, reading, science, and writing.   In 2015, student performance in mathematics declined nationally in scores at both grades 4 and 8 for the first time since the early 1990s.  Forty percent of fourth-grade and 33 percent of eighth-grade students performed at or above the Proficient level in mathematics.  Reading scores also declined from the last administered test in 2012.  About one third of fourth- and eighth-grade students in 2015 perform at or above the Proficient level in reading.
